Ranita Reina

La reina del bosque

Many Darwin's Frogs have emerged from the large eggs (about 5 mm) that this female has deposited on the forest floor of the olivillo trees where she lives.

Mrs. Queen is the longest-living free-living Darwin's Frog known to us. When we first found her, she was already a large adult frog measuring almost 30 millimeters in length.

We estimate that this frog, which now measures over 36 millimeters in length, has surpassed 12 years of life!

Choose the amount of your monthly plan and adopt the Queen Frog:

Ranita Papá

El mejor papá

Large male Darwin's Frog, measuring over 30 millimeters in length. He carries a clutch of 15 tadpoles in his vocal sac, which he will raise until they undergo metamorphosis and become little frogs.

We often observe him on the forest floor, in the greenest areas, among mosses and ferns.

He is a careful dad who can carry each clutch of tadpoles in his vocal sac for more than 2 months.

Melodía Saltarina

La pequeña cantora

Jumping Melody has a well-developed vocal sac, which helps him during his characteristic song of 3 or 4 consecutive whistles.

This song resembles the whistle of a fio-fio, a small bird that can be observed in the same native forest that is home to Jumping Melody.

During spring and summer, we often hear Jumping Melody singing energetically to attract a mate. With his whistles, he tries to stand out among the other male Darwin's Frogs that inhabit the same area of the forest.

Choose the amount of your monthly plan and adopt Jumping Melody:

Bebé Saltarín

El pequeño explorador

Juvenile Darwin's Frog, green in color and measuring about 12 millimeters in length.

This small frog has just emerged from its father's vocal sac. It is already feeding on small insects and arthropods that inhabit the forest floor.

It is getting ready to leave its birthplace and will soon move up to 150 meters to occupy another spot within the native forest.
